10月11日に美馬市木屋平の川上神社でNPO法人徳島県古武道協会主催美馬市川上神社古武道演武大会に参加しました。
徳島に安土桃山時代に伝えられ、現在でも久武館道場で守り続けられている阿州柳生神影流兵法剣術や伝承舞などを川上神社で演武することができました。
川上神社はかつて剣山登山口の宿場町として栄え剣会の期間中は大変な賑わいでした。
その名残として神社の建物は非常に立派で当時の隆盛を彷彿させます。
このような素晴らしい場所で演武でき恐縮しております。
On October 11th, I participated in the Mima City Kawakami Shrine Traditional Martial Arts Demonstration Tournament hosted by the NPO Tokushima Prefecture Traditional Martial Arts Association at Kawakami Shrine in Kiyadaira, Mima City.
At Kawakami Shrine, I was able to demonstrate Ashū Yagyū Shinkage-ryū martial arts sword techniques and traditional dances, which were introduced to Tokushima during the Azuchi-Momoyama period and are still preserved today at the Kyūbukan Dojo.
Kawakami Shrine once flourished as a post town at the base of Mt. Tsurugi and was exceptionally bustling during the sword festival period.
As a remnant of that era, the shrine buildings are remarkably grand, evoking its former prosperity.
We are deeply honored to have performed in such a splendid location.
